Description

     Sets and enforces minimum standards/parameters to ensure zero harm to employees and the environment by meeting legal and SHEQ regulations/compliance;

  •         Ensures planned and reactive maintenance of equipment is conducted effectively to assist operations to meet their targets;
  •        Leads and coordinates the implementation and installation of identified plant and equipment CAPEX projects;
  •         Ensures effective projects delivery to enable future growth and reach production targets;
  •          Identifies and implements process improvements;
  •         Implements effective technical/cost management processes to enhance profitability
  •          Applies relevant technical engineering expertise to ensure compliance to all technical services standards;
  •          Designing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and modifying of total productive    maintenance (TPM) systems to improve efficiencies
  •          Enhancing reliability, maintainability and overall equipment effectiveness through the use of computerised maintenance systems (SAP)
  •          Managing the performance of contractors and suppliers and ensuring services rendered are as per contract/ SLA’s;
  •          Manages the staff complement in the section (this includes performance and discipline);
  •          Assists with the recruitment and selection of staff in department;
  •         Provides on the job training, coaching and mentorship to subordinates

Qualifications
  • A minimum of Bachelor of Technology/Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering is a prerequisite
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Projects Management (PPM) qualification is a prerequisite
  • A Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of 8 years’ relevant work experience in a mining or heavy manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of clay brick manufacturing equipment, crushers and screens, concrete roof tile manufacture and cement brick manufacture will be an added advantage.
Prefered Skills
  • Must be conversant with automated production systems,PLC’s, hydraulics and pneumatics;
  • Must be multi-disciplined, with a good understanding of Mechanical, Electrical and Workshop disciplines including machining;
  • Must have a thorough knowledge and practical application experience of Safety, Health and Environment regulations;
  • Must be highly organized and able to lead different work team simultaneously;
  • Must be able to coach and mentor employees;
  • Hands on experience in plant design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance is critical;
  • Must have excellent communication skills and must be able to work with people at different levels;
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and sound decision making skills;
  • Experience in business improvement or process implementation is required;
  • A hands on knowledge and experience in Project Management is required;
  • Knowledge of HR and employee relations is a must;
  • Conflict handling and negotiation skills are a must;
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, MS Project, and Application Packages like SAP) is essential amongst others.
